anglin lake

Family Road Trip! It was well worth the 2 hour drive see The Sprout and Yoda watching minnows on the edge of the dock. I spent countless hours doing exactly this with the same partner many years ago......only Yoda was a little thinner back then! good thing we have a new floating dock-he he!

Yoda gave us a tour of all the good hiding places in the new cabin...

below is the "library"...check out the view! I guess you can't quite see the lake in the picture but it is a perfect view.

here is the kitchen to be and dining hallway.

2 bedrooms downstairs but more up stairs, bears can't climb stairs right Nana?
(the stairs to the old cabin were on the outside to get to the loft where all us kids slept so my loving parents assured me that bears couldn't climb stairs.......and I believed this whole heartedly until I was 21.....when it was pointed out to me that if bears could climb trees, surely they could climb stairs as well!)

the back of the cabin sure looks different!

What a lucky little Sprout to have such a great place to visit. Soon he will be picking rocks, roasting hot dogs, feeding the squirrels, watching for bears, fishing with Pa, having shore lunches and picnics in the rain.....some of his Mommies favorite things to do when she was little.
Do you like campfires? What are your favorite things to cook campfire style? Please share!

Mmmmm, the lake! That looks like a great spot!! CJ can come play her ukelele for you at the campfire. BUT last time she played "I Met a Bear" one walked through our campsite! Nothin' better than a campfire hot dog. We made what I called Balloons ~ push marshmallows on a green stick, wrap with crescent roll from a can, sprinkle with cinnamon & sugar and roast. Mmmmm.

Our stickers came today! We made a little something to put them on and show them off!!

So, we spent the long weekend at Anglin Lake for the first time ever. We must have missed you. I bet you can't guess who we were staying with....Steve and Cindy. My son and Billy became best friends last year in Grade one and we have had many a sleep over since then. The funny thing is I didn't even know they knew you until last week. I was at their house having some wine and discussing the camping trip when we started talking about blogs. I lightly mentioned that I follow yours and Saucy's and wouldn't you know, they knew both of you! They even brought out your wedding photos and explained who everyone was and how they came to know you. It was so interesting and so ironic. What a small world!

Hi Sassy! We just built our new cabin this year, and like you, have fond, fond memories of growing up at the lake,. We are so thankful to be able to pass this on to our children. Nothing beats a campfire at the lake. We love making s'mores, of course. We cook everything over our fire pit, and banana boats are a big hit. Of course, nothing beats a good tenderloin over the fire. Mmmm...make me want to go this weekend! D

What a beautiful place. How lucky to have this in your family. Our favourite campfire food is s'mores. But I also love throwing foil wrapped potatoes and corn in the fire. MMM

I love dutch oven anything. My dad makes some mean sourdough biscuits. Don't you just love the love between grandparents and their babies? I've been so lucky to have my parents close by and have their help with my kids. I feel so bad for kids that don't grow up with their grandparents close.

I would put one-bite brownies, marshmallows, m&ms, peanuts and sliced banana in a tinfoil packet and let it get warm and gooey.

Then, I would open it up and toss on a couple of scoops of ice cream! Yum!

I'd share, of course.

Saucy always comes up with the tastiest treats - even when camping! I'm a complete beginner at this stiff - so I've only just begun to master s'mores!

Smores are absolutely the best when the piece of chocolate is replaced with a reese peanut butter cup and the graham cookies are replaced with soft chocolate chip cookies!!! Just tried that on our last camping trip and will never go back to the original way.

Like Miss Saucy we use to make Banana Boats too.. but brownies in there is a delightful twist!
I eat all the choc chips and gooey marshmallows... but I really can't stand the texture of the cooked banana!
