Company ='s Crab Stuffed Mushroom Caps!


We have company this weekend, Mc Dreamy's Dad and Maimie were sweet enough to make the trip from Alberta for Gretels Birthday. The Sprout loves Maimie (and so does Sassy) for Maimie has an uncanny Grandma radar for baby holding. Example.....the phone rings, Sassy attempts to bounce baby and talk on phone, fresh steamy cafe au lait is left to grow cold and be microwaved several times until it almost glows before she can finish it. But enter Maimie, who takes the baby so Sassy can talk on the phone and sip her after supper cafe au lait while it is still hot. Ahhh, heaven! Let's just say.......we love Maimie around here. This is why for an extra special treat I whipped up a crowd favorite batch of crab stuffed mushroom caps. Brother #2, the chef, spent and afternoon with 8 girlfriends and myself last winter teaching us the tricks of the trade....one of them being crab stuffed mushroom caps. Usually I don't eat things that swim but I now crave these every so often.I make a good copy but still not quite as good as his. Here is how he taught us.
Mix in a small bowl
1 can of crab meat
dash of Worcestershire
dash of pepper
dash of garlic salt
about 1 cup bread crumbs
a few dashes of lemon juice
sprinkles of fresh parm cheese
mix until it holds together like play dough, add more bread crumbs or lemon juice if needed
fill cap lids, brush with butter and bake for 7-12 minutes
enjoy when hot!
I love having a chef for a brother! I plan on going down to the restaurant to try to steal his best borscht in theworld recipe tomorrow...stay tuned!
